Access Minidoka Sheriff Release Records

To find someone released after a Minidoka County arrest, separate the sheriff's records office from the adult jail. The Minidoka County Sheriff can route arrest-record requests, but its Rupert building is not the current adult release location. Adults are held and released through the regional Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center in Burley. A reliable release check therefore matches the Minidoka arrest and court case to the Mini-Cassia custody entry. If the person left for another agency, the receiving state, federal, immigration, or county system must confirm what happened next.

Minidoka Sheriff Release Routing

The Minidoka County Sheriff address in Rupert is a sheriff and records office. It does not operate the adult custody roster and should not be treated as a release pickup point. Adult Minidoka detainees are served by the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center at 1415 Albion Avenue in Burley. Cassia County operates that joint facility and hosts its official current roster and Recent Bookings pages.

For a community release, Mini-Cassia staff or the custody-release entry should confirm when the person physically left and why. For a transfer, follow the receiver. IDOC covers a state commitment, ICE ODLS covers immigration custody, and a federal docket, U.S. Marshals, then BOP cover a federal route. Another county may hold someone on its warrant or courtesy arrangement.

Do not wait at the Rupert office for an adult release. Call Mini-Cassia at 208-878-1000 before travel.

Confirm a Minidoka Sheriff Release

Start with the booking episode, not the Rupert street address. The Mini-Cassia roster can show a person still listed in current custody, subject to its update warning. Recent Bookings can preserve the booking ID, booked date, arresting agency, case, charge, bond, and photograph. Neither page publishes a release timestamp, release reason, destination, or released flag.

  1. Search the Mini-Cassia roster by exact name or booking number and record the booking identifiers.
  2. If the name is absent, use Recent Bookings only to recover the matching episode. Do not call that absence a release.
  3. Call Mini-Cassia at 208-878-1000 and ask whether the booking ended in community release or transfer.
  4. Request the actual release date and time, disposition, and receiving authority from the custody-record holder.
  5. Use Minidoka iCourt for the signed order or judgment explaining the legal basis.
  6. Follow IDOC, ICE, USMS/BOP, or another county when staff identify a transfer.

The Minidoka County released-inmate search maps those custody systems in full. Name alone is not enough. Compare the booking number, birth date or year, case number, arresting agency, and date range.

Minidoka Sheriff Records Contact

The sheriff's general office and its specialized Records Division publish different phone numbers and hours. Use the records contact for complaints, accidents, citations, arrests, and request routing. Use Mini-Cassia for a live adult custody or release question. Keeping the two contacts separate avoids delay.

Minidoka's county request form lists sheriff submission by fax at 208-436-9561 or email at ytorrez@minidokacounty.id.gov. Because Cassia operates the adult jail, ask Mini-Cassia which entity holds the custody-release series. Cassia Sheriff Records is 208-878-1107 at 129 East 14th Street in Burley.

Note: The sheriff's general hours and Records Division hours differ, so use the schedule for the office being contacted.

Minidoka Sheriff Former Jail

Minidoka's courthouse history explains the source of local confusion. The 1972 law-enforcement building at 724 H Street once contained the adult jail. After the regional Mini-Cassia center was built in Burley, the Rupert building housed the sheriff and juvenile detention. Its history does not make it a present adult detention site.

The distinction also explains why a Minidoka arrest can lead to a Cassia-hosted roster. Physical housing is regional, but the arresting agency and criminal case can still be Minidoka. Search Mini-Cassia for custody, Minidoka iCourt for the case, and Minidoka Sheriff Records for local arrest material. One county webpage does not contain every stage.

The sheriff office remains important. It can identify Minidoka arrest records, accept or route public-record requests, and clarify which local office holds a responsive record. It cannot substitute for the center's live custody confirmation or physical release log.

Request Minidoka Release Records

A focused request is more useful than asking for every inmate record. Identify the full name, date of birth if known, booking or arrest range, Minidoka arresting agency, case number, and booking ID. Ask for the booking sheet and custody-release entry, actual release date and time, disposition, community release or transfer status, receiver if nonexempt, and booking photograph.

If the record uses an agency code, request its public legend or plain-language meaning. Ask for electronic copies, an advance estimate, and segregable nonexempt portions when other material is withheld. Idaho Public Records Law is found in Idaho Code §§74-101 through 74-127. Law-enforcement and privacy exemptions can require redaction, so no booking photo should be promised in advance.

No local release-specific fee is published. State guidance says response periods can run up to ten working days for Idaho residents and 35 for nonresidents. For Idaho residents, the first two processing hours and 100 pages are free, with permitted charges after that based on actual qualified labor. Volume and exemptions can affect timing.

Minidoka Sheriff Release Record Fields

A release record should answer who was booked, which episode is involved, when physical custody ended, why it ended, and where the person went. A release date without time may not resolve the order of a court event, VINE notice, and jail departure on the same day.

FieldPurpose
Booking ID and arrest rangeTies the record to one episode
Actual release date and timeShows when Mini-Cassia custody ended
Disposition or codeExplains bond, order, time served, sentence, or transfer
Community or transferDistinguishes freedom from continued custody
Receiving authorityIdentifies the next system when releasable
Case and agencyConnects the jail event to Minidoka records

The court order is corroboration, not the exact door time. Idaho VINE is a useful alert, not a durable certified archive. The jail custody entry remains the preferred proof of physical release.

Minidoka Release Versus Transfer

Mini-Cassia is a mixed-custody regional center. Dated joint-powers minutes separately counted Cassia, Minidoka, Lincoln, IDOC, ICE, U.S. Marshals, and courtesy groups. The figures are not a current census, but they prove why removal from the roster is unusually ambiguous.

An IDOC result marked In custody after a Mini-Cassia exit supports state transfer. In community can show parole or probation, while Discharged [date] marks the end of IDOC jurisdiction. ICE ODLS and federal channels have their own limits. No-result in a receiving system can reflect lag, spelling, transfer, or scope.

Bond also does not equal release. Mini-Cassia lists bond by charge, so one amount or zero-dollar line does not resolve other charges, holds, warrants, or sentenced status. Confirm all holds and the court authorization, then obtain the custody entry.

Minidoka Sheriff Record Retention

Online display and official retention are different. Recent Bookings can remain visible long after an event, yet it has no release fields and publishes no release-view retention term. Idaho Code §31-871 classifies county records as permanent, semipermanent, or temporary, subject to the county's classification and other law.

Without the schedule for the exact arrest or custody series, do not assign a universal two-year or ten-year term. Ask the records custodian which classification applies. Court history often outlives a live roster, but sealed or shielded material can limit public access.

Clean Slate shielding is not destruction, and qualifying arrest-record expungement is a separate process. Neither should be described as automatic deletion of every sheriff, jail, court, or booking-photo record.

Minidoka Sheriff and Court Records

The sheriff arrest record, Mini-Cassia custody entry, and Minidoka court file are related, but each proves a different part of the event. The arrest record identifies the agency action. The jail entry establishes booking and physical departure. The court file explains bond, dismissal, time served, probation, judgment, or commitment through its orders and register of actions.

Use Idaho iCourt Smart Search with a full case number or party name. A public case can display party and charge details, bond information, disposition events, hearings, financial entries, and accessible documents. A signed order can authorize release before jail staff finish identity, warrant, detainer, paperwork, property, and transport checks. It is therefore not a substitute for the custody-end timestamp.

Minidoka County is in the Fifth Judicial District. The Clerk of District Court is at 715 G Street, with mail to P.O. Box 368, Rupert, ID 83350. The main county number is 208-436-7180 extension 110; District Court information is 208-436-9041, and Magistrate information is 208-436-7186. Contact the clerk when a public document is unavailable online or a certified disposition is required.

A missing public court result is inconclusive. Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 permits sealing and redaction, and Clean Slate shielding can remove an eligible case from general public view. Match all available identifiers and ask the correct custodian rather than treating silence as release proof.
